 Lawncare and Landscaping
Just back from our annual trip to Louisville, KY to see the latest in equipment and products for taking care of your lawn at the Green Industry Expo. You’ll hear about many of these services and products next season.
At the show we purchased a new engine for one of our mowers from a specialty supplier and it is now again providing service as good as new!

While beautiful to look at, a layer of leaves are damaging to your lawn. A reason to mulch or remove leaves is to improve the turf-growing conditions. A thick layer of leaves blocks sunlight which reduces turf growth because of the shading effect. The leaves also trap and hold moisture in
the turf canopy, increasing the potential for turf disease.

As in the past, we pick up or cut up the leaves on the turf as a part of our weekly cuttings. There may be an additional fee due to the added leaf volume and work time.

Fall clean up is a more detailed service. We bill according to the amount of time required, when we blow leaves out of corners, from under bushes, and out of planting beds.  If we have done this for you in the past we will do it again this year, unless you contact us.

If you would like this service or want more information, please leave your request at 838-8900.

An often asked question: “Is it acceptable to mulch tree leaves into my lawn?”
The answer from Purdue’s Turf Center - “Mulching tree leaves is an economical method of disposal with little risk of decreased turf performance. Our results are similar to those from Michigan State University

and Cornell University and we are now very confident in recommending professionals and homeowners to mulch tree leaves into the turf each fall.”

Our aerating was delayed due to rain, but we should finish this week. We are big believers in the value of aeration. This impact is evident in a home we service in Schererville. The customer does all his own fertilization and weed control so we can’t take credit for that, but he has us aerate the lawn every season. His lawn looks like deep thick shag carpeting while his neighbors look like the indoor /outdoor variety.

Fall fertilization and weed control are in process, if you have any other requests, please call our office.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving
